Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are loads of fun. The Universal Orlando resort area has become a great vacation spot for families. However, with two theme parks connected via Hogwarts Express, Universal City Walk, Volcano Bay and an impressive series of themed hotels, Universal Orlando is still no match for Disney World if you are looking for a certain kind of vacation. Here are five reasons to choose a Walt Disney World vacation over Universal.
More Options to Stay
The Universal Orlando resort includes 7 hotels, but Walt Disney World has over 20. Not only are there more places to stay, there are more themed environments to choose from New England Coast, to Louisiana Bayou. All of these are owned by Disney which is more than can be said for the hotels at Universal. Disney World vacation packages also have a wide range in budget with value, moderate and deluxe categories. Walt Disney World even has a vacation Club, in which you can purchase a real estate interest in one of the deluxe hotels!
A Disney World Vacation is at least twice as fun as a trip to Universal. Disney has two water parks and four theme parks. Disney World also has an ESPN sports complex, Disney Springs and a wide variety of recreational sports and activities.
Walt Disney World is the product of a deal Walt Disney struck with the Florida government in which he secured certain rights for the company. For this reason Disney World is unique among other Disney Resorts around the world and especially compared to Universal. Walt Disney World as a whole makes up 43 square miles. There is no outside influence or interruption unless you choose to leave.
While you are within Disney World you can enjoy the transportation in the form of boats, monorails and buses. All public transit in Disney World is complimentary. You never have to rent a car or pay for parking if you don’t want to. The Airport motor coach Disney’s Magical Express takes you to your hotel and back for free and while you are on vacation, you can rely entirely on complimentary transportation. You don’t get lost, you don’t get stuck in traffic, and you don’t have to find a parking space. Ever.
Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar
Finally, Disney has all the great IP. They are doing phenomenal things with Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar. True Universal has Marvel, too. But this proves the point. Disney could never get away with doing a Marvel Land or showing Marvel characters in the way that Universal does. The characters and the themed environments are extremely outdated and out of touch with what Marvel audiences want. As both resorts work on renovations and updates, Disney continues to hit harder and go farther on every occasion. Harry Potter was a big accomplishment for Universal, but Pandora and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge are much more accomplished in terms of the level of immersion and the technology at play.
